The UAE Red Crescent team has started its relief operations in the quake-affected areas of Jila, Patika and Neelum valley in Azad Kashmir, RCS team head Fahd Abdur Rahman said on Tuesday.

Tents, blankets, food packets and warm clothes were distributed among more than 15,000 survivors of the devastated 8th October earthquake in the areas.

The head of the RCS team said that 360 tents and 1500 food parcels were distributed only in the town of Jila.

"The food supplies are enough for two weeks," he said. The RCS has responded to the appeal of Bima field hospital in Muzaffarabad.

Dr Javaid Sindhu, head of the field hospital, said the RCS has agreed to contribute to the plan for extension of the hospital and provision of its requirements to accommodate the increasing number of the injured.
